The dual plate check valve is an automatic mechanical valve that operates by opening with the forward flow and closing in response to a reversal inflow. This type of valve is designed with two spring-loaded plates attached to the central hinge screw. As the flow begins to decrease, the torsion spring movement kicks in, causing the plates to close just in time to prevent any flow reversal from occurring.

 

When it comes to wafer type connections for valves, they are typically mounted in between flanges, with the bolts of the flanges being attached to the valve. In some cases, the valve body may have cantering holes in order to ensure that the valve is in the proper position between the flanges.
On the other hand, lugged type connections are similar to wafer type, but they do have some slight variations. Here, the lugged holes are drilled and each bolt hole on the flanges has a corresponding lug hole. Furthermore, there are usually two bolts from each flange, with one bolt coming from either side of the valve.
